Pyramids
Nothing adds to that Christmas vibe like a smooth-running pyramid. There's a few things to know, that will help you to achieve this vibe.
- Get the correct candles. Any candles (including tea lights) just won't do the job. Pyramid candles are specifically manufactured to operate pyramids. They have the perfect fit and are hotter burning, than your average candle and therefore emit more heat, which helps things moving.
- Ensure the central pin rests freely on the plate at the base of the pyramid (you can test it by gently blowing onto the wings before lighting the candles).
- When setting up your pyramid, tilt the fan blades at a slight angle (roughly 40 degrees). Sometimes it takes a bit of adjusting to get it right. Make sure all blades are evenly angled. Little tip: If your pyramid runs backwards, you have to tilt the blades the other way.
- After lighting the candles, give it a little spin on the central piece up top. Always make sure the pyramid is spinning, when candles are lit, otherwise the blades can turn black.
- The cooler the environment the better your pyramid will spin. So don't try to impress your auntie on the back porch on that 35 degree Chrissie day. Best to set it up inside, where it's cooler and keep it away from any breeze like open doors or aircons.
- I know it's a no-brainer but I will mention it anyway: Don't leave it unattended when candles are burning and make sure the little ones know it's NOT a toy, as tempting as it is.
- Storage: Keep all wooden Christmas decorations in their boxes at room temperature. Avoid sheds or garages, as wooden articles tend to disagree with extreme heat and cold, as well as moisture and vermin of any kind.
With a little care and correct storage you will get to enjoy your pyramid for many, many years to come.
